Set in the heart of Symi’s harbour town, The Old Markets served as the central public space where citizens discussed politics, socialised, shopped and traded goods.
Born from the ruins of the galleria of shops in Symi’s Agora, we offer a unique way to experience one of Greece’s most sought after getaway islands.
A leisurely Champagne breakfast is served to guests each morning from 08.00 to 11.00.
An elegant terrace bar - Aethera - with panoramic harbour views. Open for cocktails and light food from 18.00 to 23.00.
Fine dining is offered from the old pool house in the garden of the Captain's Mansion at AGORA restaurant each night. Dinner 19.00 to 22.00. Dinner Reservations are essential at www.agorasymi.com
Restoration - The Old Markets
A meticulous restoration, overseen by the National Monuments Commission, was completed in 2010. Using a philosophy of minimal intervention - so that the building could easily be converted back to a market place by future generations - we developed a high-end boutique hotel, worthy of such an exquisite building. Sumptuous, atmospheric rooms filled with antiques and bespoke furniture (crafted specifically for this project), luxury linens and modern comforts added the finishing touches to The Old Markets hotel.
Expansion - Captains Mansion
In 2017, due to overwhelming demand, we acquired and transformed the neighbouring mansion house to provide additional rooms and suites. The original pool house in the mansion gardens was repurposed in 2024 to create Agora - our award winning fine dining restaurant.
The Captain’s Mansion offers 2 spacious harbour view suites and 3 bedrooms, set among beautiful gardens and terraces where guests can relax and unwind.

From your arrival in Symi, you’ll be nurtured by our caring team. A porter will meet you from your yacht or ferry to assist with luggage to the hotel. A tour of the hotel an d personalised induction will share useful information about the island, restaurants, beaches, helping to tailor experiences to create the most memorable holiday around you.
